About the Institute
If men are not healthy, they cannot contribute fully to their families, their workplaces and their country. The Institute exists to change that.
Our mission
The Institute for Men's Health (Singapore) was established to educate the specialists who enter the field of men's health, and to raise awareness across society of why the health of men matters.
We work with governments and parliaments in the region as an advocate for men's health, and we help shape how healthcare for the ageing male is financed in developing Asian countries. With the support of Singapore's Ministry of Health, our aim is for Singapore to lead in this field.
Why men's health
Men carry a large share of the workforce in most Asian countries, yet they delay seeing a doctor and are under-represented in preventive care. The consequences show up across a lifetime:
Rising subfertility
Alongside psychological stress, depression and behavioural issues.
Chronic disease
Hormonal decline, prostate disease and cardiovascular risk need coordinated care.
Leadership
The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors chaired by its Dean, Professor Peter Lim Huat Chye. The board brings together senior urologists, a vascular surgeon, a medical practitioner and a technology and business advisor.
